ANNEX 1

(B-12) Open the valve to air to recover the inner pressure of the vessel;
(B-13) Take off the lid and the uppcr cylinder;
(B-14) Remove the material piled up above the lower vessel and wipe water on the lower
vessel; and
(B-15) Measure the weight of the lower vessel including the sample.
3.3.2 Drainage and measurement of weight
The detailed procedure for step C is as follows:
(C-1 ) Set the lower vessel on an appropriate stand as illustrated in Figure 3:
(C-2) Take out the plug in the drain hole for drainage;
(C-3) After 30 minutes, plug the drain hole and wipe water on the bottom plate of the Iower vessel; and
(C-4) Measure the weight of the lower vessel including the sample after drainage.
3.3.3 Judgment
In case the degree of saturation of the sample after drainage is less.than 70 %, it is judged that the material is not liable to liquefy.
3.4 Range of application of test result
In case that a material was judged as not liable to liquefy through the liquefaction potential test. the test result for this material is applicable for materials satisfying all the following conditions:
(i) The material was produced in the same factory, through the same procedure and from the same raw materials including surface active agents;
(ii) The solid density of the material is from 98.5 % to 101 .5 % of that of the material having been tested: and
(」) D10 of the material is not smaller than that of the material having been tested.
